This is how it’s done:

  1. Begin by turning off your phone and unscrewing the two tiny screws on each side of the iPhone’s Lightning post using a special screwdriver.
  2. You then need to use a suction pad and another tool to shimmy off the iPhone screen from the main body.
  3. Use a suction cup to place on the lowest part of the screen and pull up on it. This creates a small gap under the screen at the base of the phone. Place a prying tool into that gap and slowly turn it to separate the screen from the casing.
  4. Once it is separated, pull back the screen 90 degrees. Refrain from going beyond 90 degrees as this will break the cables holding the phone to the motherboard.
  5. Use a small flat object to wedge under the battery a bit to separate the battery from the glue beneath it. You could also use a blow-dryer on the phone to heat up the glue to make it easier to remove.
  6. Once you have patiently done that, remove the battery and set it apart.
  7. Use your fingernail to remove two pieces of tap holding down the metal piece under the battery.
  8. Using a screwdriver, pry open the edges of the metal logo bit by bit until you can peel it away.
  9. Insert the light kit ensuring the LED is placed into the new Apple shaped hole by the metal logo.
  10. Place back the battery. Scrape away the top of the tiny cable to allow the three metal connectors are exposed.
  11. Attach the sticky sponges from the light kit to add to the very top of the light kit cable to form a T shape.
  12. Reconnect the battery to the motherboard and replace the metal plate on top. Voila you are done!
